Player Reward Coins

At the beginning of every game, your game master should award you with one player reward coin. These special rewards can be used by players to purchase additional benefits for their characters.

Favours

When your character just isn't getting the recognition they deserve, reward coins can be used to fill the gap.

1 Reward Coin

  • receive a generic minor favour for the character of your choice

3 Reward Coins

  • receive a generic moderate favour for the character of your choice

9 Reward Coins

  • receive a generic major favour for the character of your choice

In Game Rewards

Many assorted rewards, both short and long term, are available to characters.

1 Reward Coin

  • +1 action point
  • +1 healing surge
  • +3 to a single d20 roll (not stackable)
  • reroll a single d20 roll
  • end an effect that a saving throw can end

3 Reward Coins + 1 Minor Favour

  • exchange one magic item for another of the same level or lower
  • meet with an important NPC (GM's discretion)

6 Reward Coins + 1 Moderate Favour

  • upgrade a magic item up to five levels for the character of your choice, or up to 10 levels if its new level would still be lower level than yours.
  • receive or upgrade a title

12 Reward Coins + 1 Major Favour

  • grant a magic item to the character of your choice (cannot exceed their level)
  • receive or upgrade a stronghold

Retraining

Characters may gain the benefit of retraining via reward coins, without being required to gain a level.

3 Reward Coins

  • retrain one trained skill, feat or power, as per the PHB
  • retrain a class feature chosen at character creation (such as a Warlord's Inspiring Presence)

6 Reward Coins

  • retrain all trained skills, all feats or all powers, and additionally you may retrain a class feature chosen at character creation
  • retrain a paragon path or epic destiny

12 Reward Coins

  • retrain all skills, feats and powers, and optionally you may retrain all class features chosen at character creation, your paragon path and your epic destiny.

Rebuilding

When accessing the benefits below, always assume your character's ability scores are the same as they were at first level. Points gained at levels 4, 8, 14, etc, must be redistributed separately, in pairs, exactly as though they had just been acquired. Points gained at levels 11 and 21 cannot be reassigned.

3 Reward Coins

  • reassign four original character creation points
  • reassign two stat boost points

6 Reward Coins

  • gain two additional character creation points (cannot exceed 32 points total)
  • reassign all character creation points
  • reassign all stat boost points

12 Reward Coins

  • reassign all character creation points and stat boost points.

Miscellaneous Benefits

It is possible for a player grant experience to the character of their choice, or to even create new characters at higher level.

1 Reward Coin (stackable)

  • create a new character with 2% of the total experience of your highest level character. This benefit is stackable, up to 100% for 50 coins.

3 Reward Coins

  • receive 50 experience, or 25% of the difference in experience between your current level and the next, whichever is higher.

Earning Additional Rewards

The favours mentioned above are earned during game play, usually for completing quests. The effects of a purchase are limited by the scope of the favour being turned in. Magic items are generally easy to procure, for example. Being given a title, however, is limited by the scope of the favour provider. A duke would obviously grant different titles than the head of a religious order, not to mention the relevant power of the title. All rewards purchased with Reward Coins must be approved by a game master.
