CharacterCreation

If you are unfamiliar with the Path of the Nomad campaign custom rules, then you should probably see the House Rules section for a few important changes before you continue.

Allowed Content for Characters

Players may use the following resources to build their new characters:

  • PLAYER'S HANDBOOK (excluding deities)
  • PLAYER'S HANDBOOK 2
  • MONSTER MANUAL (excluding the Racial Traits chapter)
  • MONSTER MANUAL 2 (excluding the Racial Traits chapter)
  • DUNGEON MASTER'S GUIDE
  • ADVENTURER'S VAULT
  • ADVENTURER'S VAULT 2
  • ARCANE POWER
  • DIVINE POWER
  • MARTIAL POWER
  • PRIMAL POWER
  • FORGOTTEN REALMS PLAYER'S GUIDE (swordmage class and swordmage feats, only)
  • EBERRON PLAYER'S GUIDE (artificier class and artificer feats, only)

Additional Resources

There are also several exclusive Path of the Nomad races that can be chosen at character creation, as shown on the campaign resources page.

Level and Equipment

New characters are created using the standard 22 point creation method. They begin play at first level with 100 silver (See the economy page for details).

Aelrosian Mettle

As a one time bonus, character's may complete a "Special Event" game called Aelrosian Mettle that awards 300 experience. This game can be completed at any time in a character's career, including before their first game, and can be mentored to any other player's characters (this must be recorded).

Character Sponsors

At the expense of the ability to partake in additional ongoing quests, your character may benefit from being directly associated with a long term sponsor. More details can be found on the sponsor organizations page.

Importing Characters

It is possible to import a character into Path of the Nomad from another campaign. You will need to provide some kind of proof of level. If your character is from a shared setting, bring their log sheets, if not, you will need to contact a PotN campaign staffer. This process can also be used for characters that are not part of 4th edition D&D. In the end, your ability scores, abilities and equipment will all be brought in line to match that of other Path of the Nomad characters.
