Random Adventure Ideas

This is a free form page for all players and game masters to add content to. If you think of something that would make a neat game, put it in the list.

You can decide a random plot by using the Wizards Dice Roller and a custom dice size.

Random Plots

  1. Goblins invade a small town and hold the mayor for ransom.
  2. A faction of Aelrosian Gnolls succumbs to their demonic nature and goes on the offensive.
  3. Thieves make off with a valuable heirloom of mysterious origin.
  4. Young children of a specific race are going missing while in the safety of their homes.
  5. A terrible catastrophe occurs when an unwitting person puts two extra-dimensional spaces inside one another.
  6. All of the baked goods coming from a specific shop have the effects of random potions.
  7. Giants have barricaded a road and threaten travelers.
  8. A whole community disappears overnight, and the usual suspects are all innocent.
  9. Doppelgangers successfully infiltrate the upper echelons of an important organization.
  10. A ritual of dire consequence is uncovered in a forgotten library.
  11. Countless, normally harmless creatures, swarm across the countryside.
  12. Unnatural storms ravage the skies.
  13. Drow and other denizens of the under realms start a major push into the light.
  14. Clerics of an evil deity begin to kidnap humanoid sacrifices.
  15. A caravan needs to be assisted in its travels through a war torn region.
  16. A princess needs rescuing from an evil dragon.
  17. Undead rise from the grave in droves, yet do nothing.
  18. Mischievous gnomes begin to steal wood from cities in bulk. Nothing is safe, even the walls of buildings.
  19. Mass amnesia sweeps through several small communities.
  20. A wealthy wizard of ill repute becomes a philanthropist and begins to give away all his wealth.
  21. Several liches claim rulership over a large city, and begin to enforce it.
  22. An alchemist invents a superior packaging material, but the formula is stolen before they can get funding.
  23. Ghosts from generations past haunt their living relatives.
  24. Many formerly impenetrable dungeons across the world open up, all at once.
  25. Counterfeit money threatens to topple the markets of a nation.
  26. Bad luck plagues a noble family, driving them to criminal behaviour.
  27. A powerful demon breaks into the world and must be dealt with quickly.
  28. Paladins and clerics of a certain deity have their power artificially increased ten fold, while their enemies are dramatically weakened.
  29. City planners fail to consider the consequences of expanding into the territory of an old crypt-city.
  30. A pride of gryphons are pushed from their homes and begin to attack human settlements for food.
  31. Gnomes in a mountain community fear for their lives as they are slowly hunted to extinction by a tribe of orcs.
  32. Nobody remembers the meaning of a statue that says "never forget," and it mentions a date that quickly approaches.
  33. A clerical error falsely appoints a new monarch.
  34. Primal rituals unexpectedly fail, or go horribly awry, in a certain location.
  35. Duergar attack a dwarven mining stronghold and gain control of it.
  36. Angels representing a good deities attack without warning.
  37. Former enemy monster factions band together and threaten a civilized nation.
  38. A mysterious tower appears beside a bridge over a huge ravine, and a wizard demands tolls.
  39. Half a city falls underground as kobolds mine beneath it, sparking a bloody war.
  40. A group of adventurers that haven't been seen in over a decade appear with tales of a massive dungeon and the riches it holds.
  41. Mass chaos ensues as a genie gives out wishes in exchange for souls.
  42. Maps detailing a certain part of the world magically erase themselves, and nobody that goes in is ever seen again.
  43. Shop owners in a major metropolis begin to boycott adventurers.
  44. Travelers using magical portals that pass near a sealed tower fail to arrive at their destination.
  45. A troupe of vampires awaken in a forgotten tomb beneath a modern, and occupied, castle.
  46. ...and then zombies! Thousands of them!
  47. ...and then orcs! Hundreds of them!
  48. ...and then devils! Tens of them!
  49. ...and then dragons! Two of them!
  50. Assassins begin hunting anyone and everyone that came into contact with a specific necklace/ring/item.
  51. A magical orb reveals a terrifying truth, but all who see it soon fall into a magical coma.
  52. Lost contact with a remote castle, needs investigation.
  53. Someone has decided to become a hero in the night, but his vigilante doings are...questionable.
  54. A lord begins to heavily tax his subjects for an unknown reason.
  55. Moneychangers in a large metropolis of are accused of lining their own coffers.
  56. Terrible murders are occurring late at night in secure homes, and a supernatural killer is suspected.
