Path of the Nomad Shared Campaign![]() Welcome to the PmWiki for Path of the Nomad, a Dungeons and Dragons 4th edition shared campaign. This wiki is a place where you can learn about the game world or better yet, take part in building it. It's a place where you can find resources on playing games and resources on running them. Eventually, it should be a place full of information about a world built by the hands of many. Viewing the WikiFor best results, these pages should be viewed with Mozilla Firefox. About UsPath of the Nomad operates out of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. The campaign was functionally started in late August, 2008, and officially kicked off with the death of a demi-god at Gottacon 2009. If you're new to the site, or the campaign, start with the setting entries on the side bar, most notably the Deities, Economy and Organizations sections. If you like what you see, check out the Character Creation and House Rules section for the specifics of playing in the campaign. You can find out about in-game happenings via the Cloudspire Chronicle, also linked on the top bar. The Path of the Nomad Campaign Forums are a great place to learn when and where games are being played, and to talk to local players. It's also a great place to take part and shape the campaign! The Land of AelrosThe Path of the Nomad shared setting takes place in the land of Aelros, a large and widely settled portion of a much larger world. The Lay of the LandAelros covers over 3,000,000 square miles of land, and encompasses a much larger section of the world. The occupants of Aelros are well aware of outside destinations, but seldom travel to them as a result of isolating mountain ranges, scorching deserts and brutal oceans. The majority of the populated countries in Aelros are centered around Skyreach Nation, for there you will find Cloudspire, a city of wonder built atop the highest peak whose magical gate connects even the furthest reaches of Aelros. Gods of the LandThe gods of Aelros are organized by season, with one god presiding over each season, and a fifth all season god that watches the other four. All other gods work within the portfolios of the five greater deities, known as the Divine Council. Details about all of the greater and lesser deities can be found on the deities page. Cosmology of the SkiesThe skies of Aelros are alive with many stellar objects and a plethora of constellations. At one point in the planet's history, a cosmic object of immense size collided with it, violently forming its four moons, and causing the then broken orb to begin rotating backwards (clockwise when looking down at the northern pole). Such events are far in the past, however, and life upon the land has recovered nicely. Editing the WikiPretty much everyone is welcome to edit or add to the wiki, but in the interest of maintaining a consistent appearance across all pages, please refer to a page with similar content first. The pages of Skyreach Nation are probably best for this, as they are frequently checked by campaign staff for style consistency. If you are planning to add an entirely new region, speak to a campaign coordinator first about the historical details and style of the region, in order to prevent conflicts and encourage a setting with a cohesive feeling. For the sake of organization, it's important to use wikigroups when creating or editing pages, especially in regards to the various world regions. In order to edit a page, authors are required to enter an author name. Please use your full first name, capitalized, followed by the capital initial of your last name, with no spaces. For example: ScottH. This will also create a link in the recent changes page to your profile, which you may edit to include information about yourself. PasswordsIn the spirit of denying wiki spam bots the ability to mess up our pages, editing any page in this wiki requires a basic password. You can get it from Scott on the forums. If you vandalize the wiki, you risk losing editing privileges. Some pages have an alternate password that prevents them from being edited. This includes most deities and sponsors. This is done to maintain the consistency of these pages and thus prevent discrepancies amongst characters. If you notice a problem on one of these pages you can message Scott on the forums. |
